K. Hilary Curtis-Long, LCSW
Pronouns: She/Her
Hello! My name is Hilary and my work as a therapist is seeing the whole person within the context of the environment. I hold the belief that trauma can often take many forms, varies in intensity, and impacts functioning in unexpected ways. Because of this, I take a holistic approach by looking through different lens and modalities to empower clients, navigate difficulties, and develop awareness of patterns that we, as humans, may not always be aware of.
I've worked with clients impacted by a multitude of struggles and have assisted in their battles against depression, anxiety, substance use, trauma, and relationship challenges. Clients with whom I've developed a trusting therapeutic relationship with have varied in age, race, gender, sexuality, religion, and culture. Every client is different, every situation is unique, and is treated as such. You are the expert of your own life and I'm here to work alongside you to navigate it.
For the past 5 years I've worked in a range of therapeutic environments including: inpatient residential and outpatient court mandated settings. I received my B.A in Psychology from Indiana University in 2014 and my Master's in Social Work in 2016 from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) with a specialization in mental health and addiction.
During my schooling, I was also awarded the Health Resources and Service Administration Fellowship for my work with transitional aged youth. I continue to develop an expertise in feminist theory, relationships, sexuality, and resolving trauma.
I have a heart for people and the stories that bring them to my office. In my spare time, I enjoy dancing, poetry, meditation, and reading all things psychology and philosophy. I’m happy to answer any further questions you may have as you navigate this, often, overwhelming process of finding a therapist who matches your needs.
