Dan Bowes NCC, LMHCA

Pronouns: He/Him

Hi there! My name is Dan and my work as a counselor is rooted in reckless compassion, unrelenting acceptance, and the belief that everyone is trying their best with the tools and resources they have.

My approach to psychotherapy is informed by humanistic, psychodynamic, and neurocounseling theories, as well as other somatic and mindfulness-based modalities. Furthermore, my past work in substance use treatment, crisis intervention, and community-based care has led to a deep sense of humility and abundant respect for the resiliency of the human spirit. My goal is to support, guide, and inspire those I work with towards more meaningful relationships, greater connection to community and nature, and the resolution of trauma through healing the wounded parts of ourselves.

To better help others along their journey, I completed a BA in Psychology with a focus on neuroscience at Wabash College (2016), followed by a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northwestern University (2018) with a focus on child development and psychodynamic theory.

I continue to develop an expertise in masculinity-related issues, ADHD, resolving trauma, addiction, and a wide variety of mental illnesses through mindfulness and somatic practices. I can also offer insight and guidance related to healing using plant medicines or other psychedelics. My sliding scale is $60-$105.

Alongside my work as a counselor, I'm passionate about human rights advocacy, nutrition literacy and accessibility, and drug policy reform. I also enjoy backpacking, rock climbing, meditation, playing music with friends, and going to all of the concerts.

I look forward to hearing from you and playing a role in your healing journey!
